The new decade is upon us. We have entered a new block of time that will not necessarily mirror the decade we have just departed from. How we approach this new time period will, to a great degree, determine how the next ten years affects our individual lives. Of course there are always external circumstances that none of us can control; but we are the only ones who have control over our own perspectives and attitudes. If we decide that the future has no hope for us, or if we decide that we have no influence on the future, as it affects us, then we can be certain that the ‘thing we fear most will come upon us’.
The Holy Spirit through the Apostle Paul said it perfectly in (Philippians 4:8): “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything that is praiseworthy---think (dwell, meditate, focus) on these things”.
We, as a nation, may be in the worst condition of our recent history; but we can worry and complain about that until we die, but as far as I know, worry and complaining has never changed a negative circumstance. The truth is that God is on His throne; He sets up kingdoms and He sets them down; He is still the King of kings and the Lord of lords; and there is no god like our God. His Word is sure; He never fails; and He is absolutely the One who rewards those who diligently seek Him. All His ways are perfect, and we are His ‘special treasure’. He will never leave us nor forsake us, and He knows the plans He has for us which include a ‘future and a hope’.
No matter what your circumstances are today; I challenge you to reevaluate your own perspective and attitude regarding your present situation, in the light of the great majesty and power of our God. He will not: no, He cannot fail. Generations of good men and of bad men will come and go, but Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. You can count on Him to do everything He said He would; and if our temporary situation seems unpleasant for a season; let us continue to rejoice in Him, the Lord of Glory. We are privileged to belong to Him.
